All Local, All The Time
Hazel Miller, who has performed at every Rock & Rails summer concert series since its inception in 2006, will bring her powerful voice and a blend of jazz, blues, R&B and popular music to Niwot Aug. 31.
Miller will appear with her band, The Collective, to bring a soulful end to the 2023 summer concert series at Niwot's Whistle Stop Park. For the past several seasons, Miller has been the featured performer at the final concert.
Miller has played almost every venue and event in Colorado over the years, including Red Rocks. In 2015, she was selected to sing the national anthem at the inauguration of Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, and performed at the Inaugural Ball afterwards. You might have also heard Miller's voice as a welcome greeting for visitors taking the trains to the main terminal at Denver International Airport.
In her long musical career, Miller has performed with Big Head Todd & the Monsters for 19 years, and has opened for Al Green, James Brown, Michael McDonald, and many others.
The event opens at 5 p.m. with Nalani, a Niwot native who performed as The Nalani Effect a week earlier, with Miller in the audience. Nalani is likely to join Miller onstage later in the evening, as the two have performed together for many years.
Miller and The Collective will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Happy Hour beverages are available from 5 to 6 p.m. at $6, and several food trucks will be on hand. Tip jar proceeds will benefit Left Hand Giving Circle and the Niwot Sculpture Park. The free event is sponsored by the Niwot Cultural Arts Association and the Niwot Business Association.
