All Local, All The Time
Although this year's Rock & Rails concert series has concluded, there is still more Thursday night music to enjoy in Whistle Stop Park. RISE 2023, The Jared Music Foundation's annual benefit concert is returning on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 5 - 9 p.m..at Whistle Stop Park.
"This will be our third one at Whistle Stop Park," said co-founder Surinder Dahiya. "We're hoping to get a good turnout because we now have about 30 kids that we fund. Over 20 are taking it at the Boulder Symphony Music Academy. Others are taking it at other places including Mojo's Music Academy. Both are present at the concerts and we're hoping to continue funding this number of students. All the money we raise at the concert goes to scholarships for the kids."
There is no cost to enter the concert. Similar to Rock & Rails, the event will have performers, food trucks and beverage service, and many of the same volunteers who are donating their time for the cause.
The night includes a double bill of music, starting with Mojomama, one of the bands that Niwot audiences may be familiar with based on their previous headlining appearances at Rock & Rails. The organization is also hinting that the opener may be joined by a surprise BSMA performer, encouraging supporters to get to the park early and enjoy as much of the event as possible.
Mojomama will be followed by Soul School, a multi-genre band that's known for getting crowds off their feet and onto the dance floor. Their music ranges from soul and funk to oldies, motown, country and jazz.
All proceeds from the event will be dedicated to funding scholarships for kids that are part of the foundation's program. If you can't make the concert but want to learn more about the nonprofit and their programs, view their website's program information page.
