Governor Polis coming to Niwot

Colorado Governor Jared Polis is scheduled to appear in Niwot on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Whistle Stop Park.

Polis will be on hand for a ceremony to celebrate the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) obtaining several grant awards to help fund the Colorado Highway 119 Project. CDOT has been working in conjunction with Boulder County Public Works and RTD, to redesign bus lanes on the Diagonal Highway, and to construct a pedestrian/bikeway in the median of the highway to connect Boulder and Longmont.

The Niwot Business Association has led a community-wide effort to include an underpass from the bikeway median into Niwot, and funding for the design of the underpass has now been included in the project.

Adnana Murtic of CDOT is coordinating the ceremony, which is expected to bring approximately 40 people to Niwot.
