The Niwot High School soccer season is ending dominantly as the Cougars have just one game left on their schedule. Niwot won both games last week, beating the Frederick Golden Eagles Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1-0, and the Fort Morgan Mustangs 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 12. Niwot's goaltenders combined for a shutout week allowing zero goals while the offense put up numbers.
Niwot's game against Frederick High School was close until Niwot closed the game out in the second half, with Miles Verbeck scoring the lone goal for the Cougars. Verbeck was assisted by Paris Lee, for the only assist of the night. Malachi Gilmore played the whole night for the Cougars in goal, grabbing just one save for Niwot along with a shutout.
Niwot's next game was another win, this time not as close. Despite a rocky first half, the Cougars ran away with the game with three second-half goals. Verbeck scored another goal, along with Lee and Aidan Carmen. Lee posted two assists and Carmen had one. Gilmore played the majority of the game, getting three saves in 60 minutes while Lucas Willard played the final twenty minutes, wrapping up a shutout for a Niwot victory, allowing Niwot to advance to 9-3-2.
Niwot has one game remaining this year as they take on Riverdale Ridge at home on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. Niwot's 6-2 record in League Games clinches them a spot in this year's playoffs, so this week's game is only for rankings. Niwot ranks 12th out of 68 teams in Class 4A.
