All Local, All The Time
There will be more art in Niwot this holiday season. Open Studios is returning to the former Feed Store on 2nd Avenue to showcase work by local artists in their Holiday Pop Up Art and Gift Gallery. The Niwot Cultural Arts Association has worked with property owner John Fischer to provide an art venue in Niwot.
The gallery is opening Friday, Nov. 24, and will close on Dec. 31. During that time, it will be open every weekend from Thursday to Sunday, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Hours will be expanded on opening day during Enchanted Evening, the Holiday Parade on the following day, and December First Friday.
The Holiday Pop Up is a repeat of a similar event that the group held in the former feed store last year. This year's exhibit will be structured similarly, presenting a range of artwork that people can enjoy or purchase for gift giving or beautifying their homes during the holidays.
"They'll have a group of artists in there who will sell their work," said Lisa Rivard, the Niwot Cultural Arts Association liaison with Open Studios. "There'll be all kinds of medium represented. Traditional art, jewelry, cards, and sculpture. Most of the artists represented are Open Studios artists. The show was very successful last year, and that may be why they asked to come back again."
This year's event will feature work from 36 artists, with 18 of those selected from each of the Open Studios organizations. "Artists' work for the gallery is being selected for excellence in quality and variety with respect to type, style of items, and price point," said Mary Horrocks, Executive Director of Boulder Open Studios." We want to provide art and artisan-produced items that will appeal to all holiday shoppers."
Horrocks also expressed excitement for organizing a return holiday visit of the studio's exhibit to Boulder. "Niwot has been incredibly supportive of our organization and our artists for three exhibits we've held at the feed and grain gallery in the past several months. There's a wealth of artistic talent in Boulder County and collaborations such as this help showcase what's here. We also appreciate the help we've been given by the Niwot Cultural Arts Association and Feed and Grain Gallery property owner John Fischer. This wouldn't happen without both of them."
