NHS has record number of students in District Honor Choir

A record number of choir students earned the distinction of becoming members of the St. Vrain Valley School District Honor Choir for January 2024. Fifty-three singers were selected after an arduous try-out process. The Honor Choir consists of both a Mixed Choir and a Treble Choir.

Laura Walters, Director of Choirs at Niwot, said, "We practiced in class all semester up until the audition and students had to audition on their own in November." The audition process included learning a portion of Simon & Garfunkel's classic "Homeward Bound." Students also had to demonstrate proficiency in singing various scales and triads, singing and recognizing intervals, as well as melodic and rhythmic-based sight-reading.

Niwot High's students in the St. Vrain Valley School District Mixed Honor Choir include soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voices. NHS' Mixed Honor Choir members are Kassidy Bracket, Ollie O'Brien, Pali Sauer, Lily Seiler, Anna Ensle, Mone Meyer, Maggie Luttrell, Natalie Heinze, Alayna Quinn, Greta Stauch, Sara Taylor, Nyx Thornton, Prugh Dunfee, Spade Lombardi, Peter Rosen, Bean Feitler, River Osgood, Fred Zorgdrager, Camryn Bell, Alex Fick, Jasper Allison, Mark Percarpio, Aiden Sagner, James Miller, Ash Kissinger, Maddox Wilson, and Anthony Petty.

The St. Vrain Valley School DIstrict Treble Honor Choir is composed of soprano and alto voices. The following students successfully auditioned for the Treble Honor Choir: Rori Ann Barchers, Courtneyy Lebsock, Jade West, Jack Triplett, Victoria Bernardes, Violet Sparks, Megan Swedlund, Kennah Bracket, Olivia DeRose, Alison Kraut, Rae Sweeney, Lexi Nevin, Harlo Rowell, Nadia Pai, Elyse Prestopnik, Ava Schroll, Bryce Grayless, Hope Holden, Capri Villarreal, Elliot DeBusk, Aubrielle Cook, Kaz Fowler, Jocelyn Lara Serrano, Tayler Studebaker, Charlotte Stauch, and Joella Zordrager.

The St. Vrain Valley District Honor Choirs will perform on Jan. 30, 2024. "We are very excited for all our singers!" remarked Walters.
