Get ready to Wine About Winter in Niwot

Although Pawxatawney Phil has determined spring is right around the corner, based on last weekend's storm, winter seems determined to hang around. One upcoming event might offer some relief: Let's Wine About Winter in Niwot.

Sponsored by the Niwot Cultural Arts Association, the annual Let's Wine About Winter event is planned for Saturday, Feb. 24 to welcome community members in from the cold with wine, art, food and hospitality.

Kristin Alger, who is co-chair of the event with Anne Postle, shared her excitement. "I've gone every time since it started and it's definitely my favorite event of the year. Once we had a huge snowstorm, you couldn't even see to the end of 2nd Avenue, but I think that was my favorite. It was so much fun plowing through the snow and warming up at each stop with friends...and wine!" The event runs from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at participating 2nd Avenue and Cottonwood Square businesses. Although organizers are still finalizing details, they expect that as many as 30 venues will put out their welcome mats.

Last year, participating businesses included Belle Terre Floral, Blessings Day Spa, Blue Sky Crafts, Cimmini's, Chico's Grooming Spa, Classic Looks, DRF Real Estate/Slifer, Smith & Frampton, Few of a Kind Vintage + Mercantile, Fly Away Home, Inkberry Books, Little Bird, The Little Shop, Compass Group Niwot, Niwot Inn & Spa, Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, Joan's Petite Sweets, Niwot Liquor, Niwot Market/Pebble/The Nook, Niwot Natural Medicine, Niwot Pizza, Niwot Rotary, Niwot Tavern, Niwot United Methodist Church, Niwot Wheel Works/The Wheel House, Nourish & Company, Osmosis Gallery, The Old Oak Coffeehouse, The Wandering Jellyfish, Warren, Carlson and Moore, Winot Coffee Company, and Wise Buys Antiques. Volunteers from the Niwot Community Connection will also be available to help distribute mugs and answer questions.

Tickets cost $35 to purchase a membership in the Let's Wine About Winter Club, and can be purchased in advance at eventbrite. Event guests will receive a mug, options for wine and snacks at each of the venues, and a $10 coupon they can use at participating businesses. Early orders are encouraged so that businesses can plan for food and drinks, but a limited number of $40 day-of tickets are available. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $30 each. All tickets can be picked up on the day of the event at Compass Real Estate - The Niwot Group, 7915 Niwot Road. Postle explained that funds paid towards the event are, ultimately, going to be put to good use. "All proceeds go to the Niwot Cultural Arts Association to be used to maintain Children's Park and Whistle Stop Park. We have had blizzards in past years, and 60 degree weather, and every year, regardless of the weather, people say it was the best ever." Postle is available to answer any questions community members have, and can help with arrangements for larger group sales. Anyone with inquiries or who is needing more than 10 tickets can contact her at Osmosis Gallery at 303-652-2668.
