Lucky Niwot Day at the Grange
Free Irish Folk Dance Session
Saturday, March 9, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Celebrate Lucky Niwot Day at the Grange with a fun and free drop-in Ceili class. Ceili (pronounced kay-lee) is a traditional Irish folk dance. Stop by to join in the fun by learning a few moves that are sure to make you happy go lucky.
Niwot Historical Society Lecture
"Arapaho Culture" by Fred Mosqueda
Wednesday, March 13, 1:00 p.m.
March's Niwot Historical Society lecture features speaker Fred Mosqueda, the Arapaho Language and Culture Program Outreach Specialist for Oklahoma's Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. Mosqueda will enlighten the audience about the culture, language, traditional ceremonies, and practices of these tribes, as well as speak about his ancestors who wintered in the Boulder Valley.
The Sand Creek Massacre, where hundreds of Cheyenne and Arapaho were tragically killed, took place 160 years ago this year in southeastern Colorado. Mosqueda is the Sand Creek Massacre Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Representative. NAGPRA is a law that passed in 1990 providing a process for federal agencies and museums that receive federal funds to repatriate or hand over Native American items from their collections to descendants and tribes.
Doors open for the lecture at 12:30 p.m. General admission is $5, NHS members enjoy free admission.
Community Dance Classes
Wednesdays, March 6, 20, & 27, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Teacher-choreographer Lindy Bartruff invites all ages and levels to energizing dance sessions featuring social dance workshops. Instruction is always provided at the level of each class's participants.
Each dance night in March, from 5:00 - 5:50 p.m., participants are presented with a free dance sampler of "Jazz Broadway," which combines classic and contemporary styles from Broadway hits. From 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., join in the night's line dancing session.
On March 6 and 20, from 7:05 - 8:00 p.m. Scottish and Irish social dances will be presented and on Wednesday, March 27, enjoy a 1960's dance party where participants can "hop on the pony" and "go for a swim." Costumes are encouraged.

Niwot Community Connection February Meeting
Thursday, Feb, 8, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
In addition to covering community news and discussing upcoming activities within the organization, March's special topic will be Jack's Solar Garden. Guest speaker, Byron Kominek, owner of the family-owned enterprise will share how the business has partnerships with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona in order to research incorporating solar panels with agriculture, a practice referred to as agrivoltaics.

Music at the Grange
Sunday, March 10, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
March's Music at the Grange presents a collection of talented local artists, each performing a couple of their renditions of classics and originals. If you enjoy a variety of musical genres such as folk, rock, and blues, you are sure to enjoy the melodious show in the comfortable setting of the Grange.
This is an event featuring only invited performers. Everyone is welcome to come listen and enjoy. Complimentary refreshments are always provided.
