Hopped up for Easter in Niwot

Peter Cottontail is returning to Niwot a little early this year. But nevertheless, hippity hoppity, Easter is indeed on its way.

The 43rd annual Niwot Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Niwot Group at Compass, will be held on Saturday, March 23, at Niwot High School. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Niwot Community Connection (NCC), which will have volunteers serving breakfast. The event began in 1979, but a snowstorm canceled it for one year, and two years were lost to Covid.

The newly named "Bert's Pancake Breakfast" will take place from 7:30-11:00 a.m. with special appearances by musician Eddie Spaghetti, the Easter Bunny, a new clown, a petting zoo, and lots of candy and prizes.

Children can participate in the famed, historic, and generational Easter Egg Hunt starting at 10 a.m. for a chance to find the Golden Egg - the grand prize of all grand prizes.

Pat Murphy, founder of the event, said one of the highlights after 42 years is "(this event) is such a Niwot tradition, and now the next generation is hunting for eggs." Murphy elaborated, "Young adults will tell me they remember getting a Golden Egg (when they participated in the hunt). We (the sponsors at Compass) just want to instill good memories for our kids."
