NHS girls tennis moving in the right direction

After starting the season with two losses, Niwot High School’s girls tennis team has started to find its way during the last two matches.

While the Cougars lost a close match to Holy Family High School on March 11 by a score of 4-3, Niwot won all three of the singles matches. Unfortunately, the Cougars also lost all four of the doubles matches. Their #1 doubles played a particularly tight three-setter, losing the third set tiebreaker by a score of 10-6.

Playing on back-to-back days, the Cougars then earned their first win of the season in dominant fashion beating the Skyline High School Falcons 7-0 on the Falcons’ home courts. The 7-0 win was the same as last year’s outcome with the only difference being the location of the match.

Sahasra Kolli served up a double bagel, winning her match at #1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Cassie Chen came very close to enjoying the same bagel brunch, winning her match at #2 singles 6-0, 6-1.

Not wanting to be left out, Anne Haley and Samantha Zacky won 6-0, 6-0 at #1 doubles, followed by Harper Behmer and Masha Oshmyan, who won their #2 doubles match 6-0, 6-1.

At #3 doubles, Caitlyn Carmichael and her partner Jordan Rutkowkski won the closest match of the day 6-1, 6-2, and Emory Rich teamed with Sarada Gundavarapu at #4 doubles to win running away, 6-1, 6-0.

Next up for the Cougars on March 25 is Northridge High School whom they defeated last year 7-0.
