All Local, All The Time

43rd Annual Niwot Easter Egg Hunt

This past Saturday, March 23, the families of Niwot gathered together to eat breakfast, hunt for eggs, and enjoy a morning of fun in their community.

Niwot has held a similar egg hunt event since 1981 close to Easter for local families to enjoy. Sponsored by the Niwot Community Connection (NCC), but specifically by Pat Murphy with The Niwot Group at Compass, Tara Littell and Ann Mills, it continues to be a fun community event hosted at Niwot High School.

The Easter Egg Hunt is not just the hunt itself, there were other festive activities such as photos with Sassy Clown, Eddie Spaghetti, and a petting zoo that included animals such as goats and a donkey.

Bert's Pancake Breakfast, named in honor of Bert Steele who in previous years spent early mornings prepping for pancake breakfasts held throughout Niwot, was held alongside these events. The Niwot Market served classic breakfast foods such as orange juice, coffee, eggs, sausage, green chili, and pancakes at the high school cafeteria

Children in 5th grade or younger were invited to hunt for eggs in the field near the high school. Every egg is filled with candy but if someone was lucky enough to find a special golden egg, they could trade it in for a prize.

This year, 2,100 hard-boiled eggs were dyed various bright colors by two young locals under the supervision of Marsha and Brandon Slepicka two days prior to the event on March 21.

The hunt proves itself each year to be a constant reason for families to come together and for kids to enjoy the magic of the Easter Bunny.
