Niwot High School girls soccer season ends with first-round playoff exit

The Niwot High School girls soccer team has played their last game of the year, falling to Lutheran High School in the first round of this year's playoffs.

Niwot came into the series with an impressive 8-4-3 record that landed the team the 21st spot out of 32 teams. The Cougars came in against a very strong 12th-ranked Lutheran team that has been on a warpath since the playoffs started, taking down everyone in their way en route to their state championship match.

In the second round, Lutheran beat Mead, 3-2, then got past Green Mountain, 2-1. In the semi-finals, Lutheran beat Denver North in a shootout to advance to the 4A state title game against Evergreen.

Niwot lost 5-0 to the Lions, struggling to get traction throughout the game.

The Cougars only rostered four seniors this year, allowing for a promising future. While the season is over this year, Niwot girls soccer will kick back up next March with tryouts happening in February.
