3rd Annual Slepicka Tractor Show on Saturday

Jerry and Marsha Slepicka are hosting the third annual Slepicka Tractor Show on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Tractor Show showcases tractors and stationary equipment as well as tales about the equipment, guided tours, and food. It is an event that shouldn't be missed.

New this year, the event will also be displaying a collection of garden gnomes and fairies.

The Slepickas bought the vacant lot at 6675 N. 79th Street (where the event will be held) back in 1987. Boulder County required them to keep the lot mowed, which resulted in the purchase of their 1946 John Deere B Tractor.

They added many more tractors to their collection over the years, with the ultimate goal to sell them off to help pay for their children's college. But why are the tractors still there? The children, Vanessa, Brandon, and Jessie, didn't want their parents to sell the tractors, and were able to afford college by winning scholarships.

Since the Slepickas did not sell off their tractors, the equipment and collection has become an opportunity to educate farmers, families, children, and the community. Preserving the equipment has become their new objective for that reason.

"Niwot was primarily made up of farms," said the Slepickas. "Farming was the way of life. We believe that preserving and honoring this way of life is important."

The Slepickas currently have 19 full-size tractors, 9 Gibson tractors, 17 hit and miss engines, and 12 small engines. While the tractors are on display in the front yard throughout spring and summer, come August, many of them will be taken to the Dougherty Museum for the "Yesteryears" show.

For those attending the event, parking will be available on Country Creek Drive, Centrebridge Drive, Meadowlake Drive, and in Cottonwood Square. It is asked that street parking at the venue be reserved for those with mobility issues.

This event is free. There will also be prizes and treats available at the event, including boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

This event is sponsored by the Niwot Community Association (NCA). Information and details about the event, including where it is held and how to get there, can be found at niwot.org.
