"Peacemaker" fundraiser receives boost

The "Peacemaker" bronze sculpture in Niwot's Sculpture Park, on the southwest corner of Niwot Road and 79th Street, is a big step closer to belonging to the community.

The Niwot Cultural Arts Association (NCAA), which manages the park pursuant to an agreement with the Cottonwood Park West Homeowners Association and Boulder County, announced that it has received a commitment for a $50,000 donation towards the purchase of the sculpture created by renowned artist Bobbie Carlyle of Loveland.

The commitment by the Burden Family is contingent on the NCAA raising the balance of the $78,000 purchase price. To date, $6,820 has been collected towards the $28,000 balance from donations by community members.

The NCAA hopes to raise the additional funds at the First Friday Art Walk on July 5. A dedication of the artwork donated by the late Jim Postle and his family is scheduled for that evening at the park. Jim's wife Anne Postle and family members will be on hand to celebrate the donation to the community of two bronze sculptures by George Carlson - "Of One Heart" and "Courtship Flight."

The NCAA's Sculpture Park Committee, consisting of Anne Postle, Lisa Rivard and Jill Whitener, has recently installed a QR code near the sculpture to facilitate donations by persons visiting the park. Donations may also be made by mail to NCAA, P.O. Box 733, Niwot, CO 80544, or through www.niwotarts.org.

All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
