The Niwot High School boys volleyball team had an impressive showing in the Northern Conference postseason awards, with five players and their coach receiving accolades for their standout performances this season.
Leading the way were sophomores Charlie Kirtland and Diego Kheng, who were named to First Team All-Conference. Both players also earned an All-State Honorable Mention for Class 5A.
Kirtland led the team with 209 digs and 397 receptions. He was second in assists with 38 and third in serving aces with 31. Kheng led the team with a hitting percentage of .291, an impressive .108 above second place, and in blocks, totaling 57 for the season. He was third in kills, with 178 for the season.
Senior Shen Lam and junior Cooper Chudleigh received Honorable Mention All-Conference, recognizing their contributions to the team.
Lam ended the season with 31 total blocks and 186 kills, both second in the team stats. He was third in hitting percentage, with .168. Chudleigh had a .183 hitting percentage, second to Kheng. He recorded 24 total blocks and 224 receptions.
Additionally, Coach John Miller was honored as the Northern Conference Coach of the Year, a testament to his leadership and the team's overall success in its second season.
The Cougars finished their season with a 20-5 record overall and a 6-2 conference record, taking third in a nine-team conference. They qualified for the postseason for the first time in program history but lost to Cherokee Trail High School in the Region 8 tournament.
