SVVSD's Career Elevation and Technology Center provides career education for students

The Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC), an educational center shared by schools of the St. Vrain Valley School District, stands as a beacon of educational innovation and career readiness. The CETC aims to bridge the gap between traditional education and the demands of the modern workforce by offering students the ability to explore classes that are suited for specific careers. The center is dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to explore education tailored to their future goals outside the core classes students are required to take.

CETC offers 47 courses in a varied range of programs in several career fields including Advanced Manufacturing, Agricultural Sciences, Automotive Technology, Health Sciences, Interactive Media Technology, Work-Based Learning, Prostart & Culinary Arts, Pre-Law, and Welding & Fabrication Technology.

Each class is as long as two regular periods in a student's schedule and lasts a semester, allowing for a comprehensive coverage of information and skills. The CETC, in collaboration with the school district, ensures that all students have the opportunity to take classes there by providing bus transportation to and from their schools to the CETC building at 1200 Sunset Street in Longmont.

One of the standout features of CETC is its commitment to personalized learning. Recognizing that each student has unique goals and interests, the staff are able to be flexible and ensure that each student is able to thrive in their education. This tailored approach makes students well-prepared to achieve their professional goals upon graduation. Some classes, such as the Emergency Medical Technician class, even offer students certification opportunities that can get them hired in attractive job positions right out of high school.

Moreover, CETC places a strong emphasis on developing soft skills that are crucial for career success. Through hands-on work, students learn essential skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. For example, some of the pre-law classes include mock trials, allowing students to practice their courtroom legal skills as well as introducing other students to the world of law by inviting them for jury duty. These experiences are invaluable, equipping students with the competencies needed to thrive in any professional setting.

The Career Elevation and Technology Center is more than just an educational institution; it is a catalyst for personal and professional growth. By combining academic training with practical experience and the support of the staff, the CETC ensures that students are well-equipped to navigate the modern workforce and achieve their career aspirations upon graduating high school. Ultimately, the CETC is a role model for other school districts to shape the future of education and career readiness in the St. Vrain Valley School District and beyond.
