All Local, All The Time
Patti Ashley, PhD, LPC, has recently returned to Niwot, and reopened her counseling office after a short time out of state. Ashley is a psychotherapist, who now has an office in the space formerly occupied by the Niwot Veterinary Clinic at 6964 N. 79th Street, Suite 4, in Cottonwood Square.
Ashley's offices, known as Authenticity Architects, is a counseling firm that works with other companies working toward community mental health.
Ashley formerly had a counseling office in the building behind the Winot Coffee Company at 6800 79th Street. Her method of counseling seeks to facilitate changes to the brain and nervous system to stop self-harmful mental habits and processes through both heart-centered psychotherapy, and shame-informed therapy, a subject she has taught to other therapists around the world.
Ashley said she is building a community space with other professionals to create a healing environment and give people a safe space to talk about what is bothering them.
"I found myself back in Niwot last year in search of the perfect space," Ashley said in describing her new venue in Niwot. "When I found out the Niwot Veterinary Clinic was going to be available this summer I immediately jumped on the opportunity to re-create my business in this community that I adore. The veterinary clinic has been completely renovated and transformed into a lovely healing space with a waiting room, kitchen, bathroom and three small offices. I now have a hypnotherapist and a massage therapist sharing the offices with me, and have some available days for other healers who might be interested in sharing the space with me."
Ashley has over forty years of experience in providing therapy, and several degrees, including a doctorate in psychology from the Union Institute & University, a masters degree in early childhood education from Old Dominion University, and a bachelor's degree in special education from James Madison University.
Ashley is very excited about the opening and her venue in Niwot, "It's a comfortable, beautiful space in a community I adore... I plan to stay here [in Niwot] for the rest of my life."
Ashley has also previously worked at hospital wellness centers, with physicians, and at universities. She also did a TED Talk at CU in 2022. She has written several award-winning books, including Living in the Shadow of the Too-Good Mother Archetype in 2014, and her most recent book, Shame-Informed Therapy: Treatment Strategies to Overcome Core Shame and Reconstruct the Authentic Self, published in 2020.
Ashley and her colleagues are planning an official opening in October as a grand opening where there will be refreshments and live music by popular performer and local favorite Rebecca Folsom.
