All Local, All The Time
Ron Ivory and his band, One on One, kept everyone dancing and singing along to a never-ending stream of Motown hits, from The Temptations, to Diana Ross, to The Four Tops.
One on One has become a staple of the Thursday night concert series, with a good crowd attending the event, in spite of gale-force winds.
In spite of a threat of rain, which spared the Niwot area June 27, the concert went on uninterrupted. Jack Hadley opened for One on One, with original blues songs mixed with familiar covers to warm up the audience.
Hadley, who makes his home in Boulder, was born in the Philippines into a military family. According to his website, "When they returned to America, they were stationed in San Francisco where he spent his childhood in the Haight-Ashbury district. Jack's mother bought him an acoustic guitar at an early age to keep him busy. The family eventually moved to Denver, Colorado, where he learned to play music by ear, playing everything from Hendrix to Dylan, unaware that he was learning the foundation of American music – the Blues."
Niwot Community Hall and the Left Hand Grange No. 9 were the beneficiaries of the night's tip jars, and though overcast skies and intermittent winds kept the crowd on edge, the threat of rain did not dampen their generosity, as the tip jars totaled over $1,900 for the night. Proceeds will help defer the costs of renovations to the Grange Hall, which are designed to make it even more appealing as a venue for weddings, receptions and other celebrations.
