Mead girls lacrosse scooping up postseason awards

In only their second season, Mead High School's lacrosse team, comprised of girls from all across the St. Vrain Valley School District, ended the year as State Runners-Up. Under the guidance of Coach Katie Coleman, they finished the season first in the 4A Northern League with an overall record of 17-2, with numerous postseason accolades complementing their performance on the field.

Niwot senior Anne Booth, a captain and the backbone of the Maverick's defense, earned the prestigious title of Colorado Class 4A Goalie of the Year. She was also recognized as an All-American for her efforts this season. She saved a remarkable 119 shots, only letting 97 past her. She was named to the All-State First Team and the All-Conference First Team.

Niwot junior Lucy Connors, a captain, and an offensive powerhouse, received a slew of accolades including First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference. Connors led the team with 76 goals, 35 assists, and 26 caused turnovers. Her outstanding work earned her the honor of being BoCoPreps.com Female Athlete of the Year and Coach Coleman's Offensive Most Valuable Player.

Senior Rory Carr, an attacker, and sophomore Emmy Tecu, a defender, were both named to the All-State First Team and All-Conference First Team. Carr had 49 goals and 16 assists, while Tecu had 13 goals, 8 assists, and 16 caused turnovers. Tecu was named Mead's Defensive MVP.

Sierra Ryan, a midfielder and captain, was named to the All-State Second Team and was First Team All-Conference. Ryan had 38 goals and 24 assists.

Alongside their hard work on the field, Booth and Connors earned All-State All-Academic honors, with Ryan earning the Mead High School Scholar Athlete Award.

The Mavericks ended their season in the State Championship game with an 11-10 buzzer-beater loss to Evergreen High School. The Mavericks graduated Booth, Carr, Ryan, Lexi Cook, and Grace Weber.
