All Local, All The Time
Kaleb Noterman likes to keep things simple when playing football: see the ball, catch the ball, and score.
Unconcerned by that which he can't control, the wide receiver/defensive back is turning heads this summer ahead of his second year at Niwot High School. The single-minded rising sophomore played junior varsity football last season but amid a summer of rapid growth, varsity head coach Nik Blume is anticipating substantial production from Noterman moving forward.
"Kaleb's route running has been strong, his hands have improved and he has a knack for finding open space," Blume said of Noterman's offseason development. "He's shown tremendous growth in 7-on-7s and caught a couple of touchdowns these first sessions. We hope for a big fall out of him."
Noterman agreed that with help from his coaches, he has gained confidence on both sides of the ball. His goals this upcoming season include finding the end zone consistently on offense while being a disruptive force on defense.
"I'm just practicing a lot on how to catch and I'm putting in the work," said Noterman, who traveled with the varsity team last fall.
This summer's work has included weightlifting, route running and defensive technique building, among other focuses. Niwot's first game is still about two months away, but Noterman hopes his strong summer will lead to an even better fall.
"I just want to be a good football player and be able to score a lot more touchdowns," Noterman said.
With the Cougars recently losing playmakers such as Eric Dillon, Mats Lehan and Sergio Pimentel to graduation, Noterman should have an opportunity to contribute significantly. Niwot, which averaged just over 18 points scored per game in 2023, finished 3-7 last season with multiple sophomores (now juniors) making an impact.
While Noterman is still getting to know some of Niwot's older varsity players, he has grown close with some of his fellow incoming sophomores, including Hayden Tabolt.
