All Local, All The Time
Do you live in Niwot? Do you like beer? Do you like a social atmosphere? Are you over the age of 50? If you answered "yes" to all of these questions, then you should check out the Niwot Community Connection's (NCC) subgroup "The Brewhop."
Brewhop is just one of the many subgroups that have stemmed from the NCC. The NCC started as an informal organization in the Fall of 2021, providing a social forum for engagement with the target demographic of those over age 50 living in Niwot. During a time when community and human interaction had faltered due to COVID, it became a great opportunity to make new connections and build a community again after months of isolation.
Niwot area residents Ben and Julie Pope started the Brewhop group in the Fall of 2022. With attendance numbering anywhere from six to 15 people, Brewhop's objective is to try a different brewery once a month. Group members typically meet during either the third or fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 4:30 p.m.
These breweries never venture too far from Niwot. Venue locations have included Shoes & Brews, 300 Suns, Wibby, Bootstrap, Left Hand Brewing, Bearded Brewer, Fritz Family Brewers, The Wheel House, Beyond the Mountain, Twisted Pine, Sanitas, and Mother Tucker.
"We've really enjoyed getting to know more people in the community," said the Popes in a joint statement, "and have [been able to] make quite a few new friends."
Those interested in getting on the email list for the Brewhop group should contact Ben Pope at [email protected].
