All Local, All The Time
Rock & Rails summer concerts continue on Thursday, July 25, with the opening act starting at 5 p.m. and the headliner lighting up the stage at 6:30 p.m.
The Wendy Woo Band returns to Rock & Rails to start the night off with an energetic and enjoyable performance. The Wendy Woo Band is a self-described "poly-ethnic, power pop, song-rock, 6-piece band with sweet vocal harmonies and shuddering grooves."
Wendy Woo is an inductee into the Westword Hall of Fame as a result of being named "Singer/Songwriter of the year" by Westword Magazine five separate times. With over 200 original songs Woo has proven to be an extraordinary performer.
Headlining this week will be Ain't No Mountain High Enough with Dzirae Gold. This "Motown Revival" group is known for its ability to replicate the recognizable sound of 60s and early 70s Motown artists.
Lead singer Dzirae Gold is known to be "a dead ringer for Diana Ross not only vocally but physically too," according to Pat Downey, a long-time champion of the group. Special guest "Detroit'' Daryl Smith will be joining the group for this special performance. Smith has proven to be a master in musicality playing alongside original Motown and Stax Records artists, including the Contours, Mary Wilson from The Supremes, and Otis Williams from The Temptations.
This week's tip jar recipients are Cake4Kids and Niwot Youth Sports.
The Cake4Kids organization bakes, delivers, and customizes homemade birthday cakes to underserved and at-risk youth across the country. The organization relies on volunteers and donated ingredients and supplies.
Niwot Youth Sports is a non-profit organization providing local youth with recreational and competitive sports opportunities, including baseball, softball, flag football, soccer and basketball.
So bring your chairs and hope for great weather in Niwot to listen to two great acts on Thursday, July 25.
