All Local, All The Time
Niwot High School 2024 graduate and valedictorian Mia Prok was a highly accomplished high school student and athlete, resulting in her acceptance to Wake Forest University specifically to run track and cross country. Not only is it difficult to get into WFU for athletics, it is also a school that values academic strength and enthusiasm. Prok has it all.
Prok has not decided on a career path after college but is intrigued by pursuing pre-med since both of her parents are physicians.
For now, Prok is committed to pursuing her passion for running. Competing in multiple events ranging from the 200m to 4x800, Prok has trained and competed in a variety of races. This past year, she placed first at the 2024 CHSAA Class 4A State Track & Field Championships in the 4x800 meter race. One of her favorite memories was winning Nike XC Nationals with her team during her sophomore year and going on to place second during both her junior and senior years.
Something that Prok is especially proud of and grateful for during her time at Niwot High School was her ability to prioritize both running and her academics. Prok handled both with aplomb and took her academic and athletic responsibilities seriously. The result was earning the title of valedictorian while being an important contributor to a very high level running team.
In her free time, Prok enjoys spending time with family, with friends, and traveling. She has been to Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Guatemala, and Ireland. Her sister, Anna Prok is a senior at Niwot High School and is following in her sister's track shoes.
