All Local, All The Time
Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting is inviting residents and cyclists to participate in a survey aimed at gathering input on the proposed N. 63rd Street Bikeway Overpass. Initial design of the bikeway called for an underpass in the median between the northbound and southbound lanes of CO 119 where the bikeway crosses N. 63rd Street. But planners discovered that a large water main under the highway would be very costly to relocate if an underpass were to be constructed, and opted instead for an overpass.
This overpass is part of the broader Diagonal Highway 119 Bikeway Design Project which seeks to enhance cycling infrastructure and promote safer, more efficient travel for cyclists along the CO 119 corridor.
By providing a dedicated safe route for cyclists, the project aims to encourage more people to choose cycling as a viable mode of transportation, thereby contributing to the county's environmental and public health goals.
The survey is designed to collect feedback from the community on various aspects of the bikeway project overpass at N. 63rd Street, including the design and functionality of the overpass. The overpass is a key component of the project, intended to provide a safe crossing for cyclists over N. 63rd Street along the busy CO 119 highway, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and improving the overall cycling experience.
The survey is composed of twelve questions that offer different design choices and explore reasons why a survey participant prefers certain design features for the overpass. For example, one question asks participants to rank potential themes for the overpass such as "Colorado Historic," "Clean and Simple," and "Front Range Modern." Participants in the survey are encouraged to share their thoughts on aesthetics such as lighting, art and murals, and scenic overlooks for the overpass.
You can participate in the survey by clicking the link here. The deadline for responses is Aug. 15.
