All Local, All The Time

FACE and Charted Territory to light up the Rock & Rails stage Aug. 15

Rock & Rails kicks off again this Thursday, Aug. 15 with Charted Territory entertaining Niwot with a variety of pieces that range from heavy guitar-driven classics to dance tunes.

Formerly known as All About the Brass, this seven-piece group has evolved throughout the years since its creation in 2015. Various decades of music are represented during Charted Territory's performances, giving room for everybody to enjoy the feelings of nostalgia that music provides. The band includes Niwot High grad Katie Warren on brass, keyboards, percussion and vocals.

Headlining this week's concert will be the well-known vocal band FACE. FACE's annual energetic performances have made them a fan favorite in the community.

The group was started in Boulder, making local performances particularly memorable and special. FACE has since been performing around the world together for two decades, including appearances on national television.

FACE has said that Rock & Rails will always be one of their favorite crowds because of the consistent excitement and enthusiasm from the Niwot community. That welcoming excitement inspires the group to continue playing at Rock & Rails year after year. Over the next few months, FACE will be performing at various ticketed events around Colorado, but in Niwot, the performance is free.

The tip jar recipients this week will be the JARED Music Foundation and the Niwot Cultural Arts Association's Volunteer Appreciation fund.

The JARED Music Foundation is an organization with the goal of aiding youth in having access to music education, encouraging youth to explore the possibilities of music, and to expose students in need to "the dynamic and impactful feelings of creating and experiencing music" according to the foundation. The organization was founded in memory of drummer and Niwot High grad Jared Lizakowski, who died tragically at a young age. The JARED Music Foundation will hold its RISE benefit concert at Whistle Stop Park on Sept. 5.

The Niwot Cultural Arts Association and the Niwot Business Association, which co-manage Rock & Rails with the help of over 100 volunteers, will collect donations for an end-of-season celebration for everyone who makes the event possible.

So bring your chairs and hope for great weather in Niwot to listen to two popular acts on Thursday, Aug. 15.
