Phyllis Terrones

Phyllis Terrones passed away in her home on July 12, 2024, from complications with interstitial lung disease. She was born January 8, 1936, in Pueblo, Colorado to Bellisario and Juliana (Lujan) Bustillos.
She married Arthur Terrones on February 6, 1954. After graduating from Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado, she and Art moved to San Jose, California where they started their family. They returned to Longmont, Colorado in 1965 and began constructing a home in Niwot, Colorado where she remained for the rest of her life.
She worked for the Saint Vrain Valley School District for 37 years and 9 months teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) classes and migrant summer school. She also taught night school for several years, teaching English to many parents and family members of those she tutored within the school system. Towards the end of her work in the school district and for 15 years after, she cared for many foster children.
She was well-known in the community for caring for those in need and supporting numerous philanthropic causes. She was active and vibrant until the end helping neighbors and caring for her very large yard.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Mejia and her youngest brother, Billy Vigil. She is also survived by her son Mike and wife Debbie Terrones of Longmont, her son Chris and wife Sharon Terrones of Mead, her daughter Julie Walker of Loveland, her daughter Lisa and husband David Botterill of Johnstown, and her daughter Valerie Terrones-Montano and husband Victor Montano of Longmont. She is survived by her 17 grandchildren and her 15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 2:00 PM at New Creation Church located at 737 Bross Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charities that provide for those in need. Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary of Longmont.
