Niwot golfers stay on course with solid performances in week three

The Niwot High School boys golf team faced another challenging week on the course, competing in two league tournaments that tested the golfers' consistency and resilience.

On Aug. 20, the Cougars participated in the Centaurus League Tournament at the Indian Peaks Golf Course, where they tied for fourth place with Monarch High School, both teams finishing with a score of 308. Fairview High School claimed first place with a dominant score of 287, followed by Erie High School at 302, and Horizon High School at 307.

Senior Drew Stapp continued to shine for Niwot, finishing in third place overall with an even-par 72. Senior Jagger Kilpatrick also delivered a solid performance, finishing twelfth with a 75. Junior Jackson Sessa carded a 79, followed by junior Will Jones with 82.

Later in the week, on Aug. 23, Niwot competed in the Fairview League Tournament at the Flatirons Golf Course. The team placed fourth again, this time with a score of 302.

Junior Charlie Budacz led the Cougars, finishing eighth overall with a score of 72. Kilpatrick followed closely behind in tenth with a 73. Stapp, who was the top scorer earlier in the week, finished 35th with a 78. Sessa rounded out the scorecard with a 79.

This week, Niwot will face more competition as they head to the Eaton High School Invitational at the Eaton Country Club on Thursday, Aug. 29.
