Niwot soccer on winning streak, beats Littleton 3-0

The Niwot High School boys soccer team earned their second win in a row on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at an away game against Littleton High School, earning a 3-0 shutout. This three-goal margin is a new team best for the Cougars who have played four games so far this season.

Seniors Jay Scharfe and Santiago Nahas both scored in the first half of the game, their first goals of the season.

Senior Mohi Bauer also scored his first goal of the season in the last few minutes of the game off an assist from sophomore Will Gabrielson.

Gabrielson, who is one of the lead defenders for the Cougars, got the only assist of the game. "Will kicked about a 50-yard ball over to Jay which he does regularly," said coach Stephen Dimit, and Scharfe sent the ball into the net for the third and final score of the game.

Dimit said, "The seniors have been the engine to what the team has been doing so far this season and finally have the stats to back up their hard work."

The win against Littleton bumps the varsity season record to 3-1, dropping Littleton to a record of 0-2-1.

Niwot will take on Prairie View High School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 for homecoming week. "There is a drone show after the game which should be exciting," said coach Dimit. The team is hoping for school and community support for their upcoming home game on Wednesday.
