All Local, All The Time
"The Kickoff," Niwot's homecoming flag football tournament, kicked off a week of homecoming festivities on Monday, Sept. 9. Eight teams made up of Niwot High School students, with the majority being juniors and seniors, played one another throughout the evening.
Coached by their fellow students, the players arrived earlier in the evening to receive rules and regulations to ensure that the games went as smoothly as possible. With the first game beginning at 7 p.m., the final game didn't start until late in the evening.
The final game was a contest between the Red Team and the Purple Team, resulting in a 26-6 victory by the Purple Team. All teams played hard and well, and the competition was hot throughout each game.
The runner-up Red Team, which put up a good fight, consisted of Niwot High School students, Tyler Chivukula (team captain), Jade West, Madison Ackerman, Samantha Zacky, Bella Berger, Anne Haley, Heather Humphrey, Elise Arends, Tori Villavicencio, and Brooke Caquelin, coached by Kye Toothaker, Lincoln Brewer, Francisco Arozamena Ringuelet, Santi Nahas, and Naveen Bopearachchigedon.
