The public hearing before the Boulder County Commissioners regarding the Boulder to Erie Regional Trail (BERT) Plan has been rescheduled from Oct. 10 to Oct. 24 at 9 a.m.
The BERT Plan evaluates multiple conceptual alignments and identifies a preferred alignment for further consideration for an 8.5-mile east-west multi-use trail connection between the City of Boulder and the Town of Erie. The BERT Plan includes the project process, public and stakeholder input and engagement, technical evaluation, conceptual level alignment, opinion of cost, and next steps.

Commissioners’ public hearings and meetings are offered in a hybrid format where attendees can join through Zoom or in-person at the Boulder County Courthouse, 3rd Floor, 1325 Pearl Street, Boulder. View information on how to attend or participate virtually.
Public comment will be taken at the hearing.

The Boulder County Department of Parks & Open Space is looking for volunteer naturalists. The application deadline is Thursday, Oct. 31. For those whose application is accepted, training classes take place every Friday from Jan. 10 through March 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Longmont. The 10-week training program will teach volunteers about interpretive techniques to connect audiences with nature and information about local geology, plants, ecosystems, wildlife, and agriculture.
Applicants must be:
• 18 years old
• Agree to a background check
• Attend the required 10-week training program
• Be available for ongoing weekdays
• Be willing to present at least four interpretive programs in 2025

The weekday closure of the Boulder Canyon Trail that was previously scheduled for Oct. 3 has been delayed. Further information on this closure will be forthcoming.
The Cradleboard Trail detour at the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm begins Tuesday, Oct. 15 to protect bald eagles during breeding season.
