Inner Space Healing Grand Opening

A crowd of approximately 50 attended the Grand Opening of Inner Space Healing, located in the Cottonwood Square Shopping Center in the former Niwot Veterinary Clinic offices, on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The celebration began with Chuck Roberts introducing therapists Patti Ashley, Jules Radu, and Elaan Brudno, who offer three separate healing practices that operate out of Inner Space Healing.

Ashley is a psychotherapist who practices Heart-Centered Psychotherapy and Shame-Informed Therapy, which seek to cause changes to the brain and nervous system to stop harmful mental habits. She is also the author of several award-winning books, has conducted a well renowned TED talk, and runs a podcast called The Inner Space Project Podcast.

Radu practices Quantum Healing Hypnotherapy, also called QHHT. This practice was originally developed by Dolores Cannon and is a form of hypnosis that helps people discover the roots of their problems.

Brudno's practice is called Creative Journeys Practices. She is also a psychotherapist whose practice specializes in contemplative psychotherapy and Visualization Semantic Motivational Goal Setting. She has a degree from Naropa University in Denver, and has been working for non-profit organizations for several years. She said she is very excited to have her own practice at Inner Space Healing.

After the introduction, all three business owners drew the crowd over to the front door, which was blocked by a bright red satin ribbon for the ribbon cutting to celebrate the new business.

As part of the Grand Opening, the audience was treated to a concert featuring folk singer-songwriter Rebecca Folsom. Before beginning her set, Folsom said, "Patti, the fearless leader of this new space, is going to sing three songs for you that she wrote. Thank you, everyone, for being here to bless this opening for Patti, Jules, and Elaan."

Ashley, who explained that she has taken voice lessons from Folsom, opened the performance, singing two songs that she co-authored with guitarist Julian Peterson, who accompanied her and Folsom throughout the afternoon.

The first one, "Goodnight Ladybug," was written in honor of her fiance, who passed away eight years ago. Her second selection was "Sweet Creamy Butter," a song about falling in love. She also rewrote lyrics to the song "I Love This Town" by Clive Gregson to make it specific to Niwot, including lyrical mention of the Niwot Tavern, the Niwot Market, The Wheel House, and the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band.

Folsom sang two brand new songs during the concert, "The Calling" and "Take Flight," along with a several others, such as "Girls Like Us" and "Run With the Gypsies" occasionally accompanied by singer Leann Roberts. About halfway through, Roberts and Ashley both came back to sing "Wonder" with Folsom.

A drawing for door prizes included several signed copies of Ashley's books. Several local businesses also provided prizes as well, including a gift card for the Niwot Tavern, a five-pack of classes at Una Vida, a five-pack for the sauna at Una Vida, tickets to upcoming events at Inner Space Healing, and an autumn chocolate pack from Robin Chocolates.

Ashley thanked several of her friends for assisting with the event, noting that she could not have put on the event without them. She thanked Chuck Roberts for assisting in setting up and running the event, along with his wife Leann Roberts, who sang with Ashley.

Inner Space Healing is planning to host several more events in the future, including workshops on Healing Ancestral Trauma and mandala making.
