All Local, All The Time

Belle Terre's Grand Opening at its new location

Belle Terre Floral opened a new location in Niwot, taking over the space in Cottonwood Square previously occupied by Blessings Day Spa, which moved to 2nd Avenue.

To celebrate this milestone, owner Sarah Cioni hosted a grand opening event last Thursday, Oct. 24, which saw an impressive turnout. Cioni said, "Sales have never been better. Our revenue has doubled, making this our highest-earning year yet!"

The move to the new location was driven by a need for more space due to the growing business, primarily fueled by increased demand from the wedding venue market.

Cioni has been a business owner in Niwot intermittently since 2005 and has balanced 23 years as a single mother while running her businesses. She takes pride in her accomplishments and growth over the years.

Her journey was filled with challenges. Cioni lost everything during the 2008 financial collapse, moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to care for her brother, and returned to Niwot in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown, having lost three family members to the virus. Trying to figure out what she wanted to do with her life, she found inspiration in a friend's mantra: "Dream it again."

With this renewed perspective, she opened Belle Terre Floral in 2021 on the south side of the Conoco gas station in Niwot. That space will soon be occupied by the gym, RAKD, as it expands its current space.

Cioni continued to fly back to Los Angeles to honor prior wedding floral arrangement contracts. Then, two fortuitous events happened in late 2022 to early 2023. First, Bert Steele invited her to return to the Niwot Market, where she had operated from 2005 until 2008, and set everything up for her floral shop.

Then, the Wedgewood Weddings group in Boulder requested her services again. To provide some background, in 2015, she was secretly shopped by the Wedgewood Weddings group, which resulted in a request to be their exclusive florist and to commit to up to 175 events annually. Although their operations paused during COVID-19, Wedgewood Weddings resumed soon after, creating a valuable opportunity for Cioni.

Cioni reflected, "Being a business owner is an obsession. It's not an easy job, but you must keep going."

At a recent trivia night at The Wheel House, Eric Bergeson asked, "Who said, 'If you're going through hell, keep going?'" The answer was Winston Churchill, but it struck a chord with Cioni.

"It's about more than flowers, weddings, or being an entrepreneur-it's about never giving up," she shared. This has always been her guiding mantra. After the grand opening, she said, "I could not sleep that night because I felt so much love from the community. It was overwhelming. They came!"
