All Local, All The Time
Niwot experienced its first snow of the season this past week, which means winter is quickly approaching. With winter on its way, many Coloradans look forward to skiing, snowshoeing, reading books by a cozy fire, or even traveling to Cancun, Mexico to escape to a warmer climate.
However, for many Niwot residents, local annual winter festivities are always a highlight of this approaching season.
Enchanted Evening kicks off the winter festivities on Nov. 29 from 5:45 - 9:00 p.m. on Second Avenue and Cottonwood Square. At 6 p.m., the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange band will be performing with festive tunes to get the crowd into the holiday spirit, so be sure to get to town early. Rumor has it that a guest vocalist may also make an appearance.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will then arrive via horse-drawn carriage to light the Christmas tree in Niwot.
After the annual tree lighting, attendees are welcome to walk throughout Niwot and drop into different shops for cookies, warm beverages and holiday shopping. Santa and the missus will also make their way to Niwot Hall, formerly known as the Left Hand Grange building, to meet children and families.
The day after Enchanted Evening is Niwot's Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30, with step-off at 11 a.m. on Second Avenue going from Murray Street down to Niwot Road. If you or your children missed their opportunity to present their wish lists or just wanted to say hi to Santa, he will be present again at Niwot Hall until 1 p.m.
Niwot's Holiday Market will be held on the next two Saturdays, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. The market will be held at the Niwot Hall and features many pop-up vendors selling various holiday gifts. There will also be various cookies and holiday treats, such as candy canes, as well as some warm beverages, carriage rides, ice carvings, and live music. Not to mention, these dates both provide additional opportunities to meet Santa if you or your children procrastinated in sending a wish list.
The first weekend of the Holiday Market will prove to be especially eventful as the Rebecca Folsom Trio will be performing on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m., at the Niwot Hall for the Niwot Holiday Magic Concert Series. Tickets for this event are $45 per person and include one holiday-themed beverage with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available and snacks. Tickets can be bought by visiting the event page at http://www.Niwot.com or by going directly to the ticket website at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/niwot-holiday-magic-concert-series-with-the-rebecca-folsom-trio-tickets-1068083720159.
Be sure to attend as many holiday events as possible here in Niwot to make a lifetime of memories and support small, local businesses.
