All Local, All The Time
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) has announced its 2024 All-State Softball Teams, recognizing the state's top performers across all classifications. Among the standouts, Niwot High School's senior pitcher Kianna Butler earned First Team All-State honors in Class 4A, cementing her legacy as one of the program's most accomplished players.
Butler, who led the Cougars' pitching staff throughout the season, was one of seven seniors selected to the Class 4A First Team, which also featured one junior and one sophomore, highlighting the wealth of experienced talent in the classification this year.
The Cougars' success was further recognized with sophomore shortstop May Herrera receiving All-State Honorable Mention honors in Class 4A, demonstrating the NHS program's bright future. Herrera's selection as an underclassman signals her emerging presence as one of the state's promising young talents.
Both Butler and Herrera also garnered First Team All-Conference recognition in the Granite Peaks League, while teammate Anna Halverson rounded out Niwot's postseason honors with a Granite Peaks All-Conference Honorable Mention selection.
Having multiple players recognized at both the state and conference level speaks volumes about the program's development. Butler's First Team selection is a testament to her dedication, while Herrera's recognition as a sophomore signifies the promising future ahead for the remainder of her high school softball career, and beyond.
The Class 4A All-State First Team will be coached by Meredith Barnhart and Glen Maestretti of Lutheran High School, as well as Haley Hanson of Windsor High School.
