All Local, All The Time
The Holiday Parade is going to be marching through Niwot on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on this year’s Small Business Saturday. Make sure to stop by for this classic holiday parade that has been a staple in Niwot for over 30 years, then stop in and support the small businesses in Niwot that help make the event possible.
Santa will be swinging by in his magical sleigh to participate in the parade. The parade will start on Murray Street, with many local businesses participating. Once everyone is gathered, the parade will head down Second Avenue and Niwot Road to Cottonwood Square.
During the parade, many people dress up in festive holiday wear including Santa hats, or dress up as elves or in green and red jingle bells. Several also bring their friendly dogs along for the parade as well. During the parade and events after, there will be goodie shopping bags distributed at Niwot Hall with holiday items courtesy of the local businesses.
“The Holiday Parade and Small Business Saturday are great because they bring a lot of people out early for the holiday season and holiday shopping,” said Deb Fowler, one of the co-organizers of the parade. “It also brings the community together in a wonderful way.”
There will also be live music throughout town during the Holiday Parade. Kevin Dooley, a local musician who sings and plays acoustic guitar, will be playing at the Niwot Market from 12:00 p.m.. to 2:00 p.m.. Tony Crank, another local musician who often plays around Niwot, will be playing at the Niwot Emporium from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will also be various carolers bringing in the holiday cheer by singing around town from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
After the parade, Santa will head to Niwot Hall to listen to Christmas gift wishes to add to the list of presents he will be delivering this year. Unfortunately, he will have to depart around 1:00 p.m. to get back to his workshop and feed his reindeer their lunch. Prancer gets cranky if he gets fed late, so be sure to get in your wishes in before he leaves.
