All Local, All The Time
Boulder County worked with a ditch company and engineers to come up with a fix to repair bridge abutments along Hidden Star Trail that were being undercut by water.
According to Boulder County Trails Supervisor Andy Tyler, "We will be using grouted riprap to stabilize the embankment. We initially thought we weren't going to be able to get in there until January, but the ditch company told us there is a window from late October through December first where there won't be any water running in the ditch."
The county hopes to get the majority, if not all the work done by Dec. 1, but it will depend on the weather.
"If the water is turned on before we are complete," Tyler said, "we are hoping we will still be able to continue as we may be above the water line at that point."
There is a detour along the trail where the bridge work is occurring and details of the detour may be found here at https://bouldercounty.gov/open-space/parks-and-trails/niwot-trails/.
