All Local, All The Time
The holiday season is fast approaching, and with it comes the much-anticipated Niwot Holiday Market. The cherished tradition will take place over two Saturdays, Dec. 7 and Dec 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the heart of the Niwot business district.
Centered along Second Avenue and Cottonwood Square, the market is a festive celebration of the season, featuring live music, unique shopping, delicious treats, and activities for the whole family. Sponsored by the Niwot Business Association with funding from the Niwot Local Improvement District, the market brings the community together in a warm holiday atmosphere.
Food and drink are a big part of what makes the Holiday Market special. Guests can indulge in a variety of seasonal treats and beverages, including candy canes, Christmas cookies, roasted chestnuts, mince pies, aebleskiver, and glog. For those seeking a warm pick-me-up on a crisp winter day, hot chocolate, mulled wine, and hot apple cider will also be available. These festive flavors set the tone for a day filled with holiday cheer.
A highlight of the market is the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. They will be greeting visitors at Niwot Hall, formerly known as the Left Hand Grange, from 1 to 3 p.m. on both Saturdays. Children can share their holiday wishes and enjoy the magical atmosphere created by these special guests.
Families can also participate in activities such as gingerbread house pick-ups, holiday card-making at Inkberry Books, and a visit from the Magic Elf at Fly Away Home. For those looking to balance the busyness of the season with mindfulness, Inner Space Healing will host a "Coping with the Holiday" tea talk from 3 to 4 p.m. on both Saturdays.
Live music will fill the streets throughout the event, creating a joyful soundtrack for visitors as they shop and stroll. On Dec. 7, performances include pianist Jasmine Jacobs at Niwot Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band at The Wheel House from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Kevin Dooley at the Niwot Emporium from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and John Shepherd at Winot Coffee from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The Rebecca Folsom Trio will perform a holiday magic concert at Niwot Hall after the market from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 7 and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.
The musical lineup for Dec. 14 features Jacobs returning to Niwot Hall, Tony Crank performing at the Emporium from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Shepherd bringing his talents back to Winot Coffee from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Roaming carolers, harpists, brass bands, and other musicians will also make an appearance on both days, adding to the festive ambiance.
The market is a haven for shoppers in search of unique and meaningful gifts. Local vendors will set up shop at Niwot Hall and other locations throughout the town, offering handcrafted items, art, and holiday décor. The market also provides an opportunity to explore Niwot's businesses, many of which are hosting special events.
On Dec. 14, children can participate in a special shopping event at Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, where they can purchase gifts of jewelry for $1 while supplies last. A bag giveaway at Niwot Hall will provide free reusable bags to early visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on both days.
Transportation between the market's two locations is made even more magical with horse-drawn carriage rides, running from 12 to 4 p.m. on both days. These charming rides offer a unique way to experience the market's festive atmosphere while traveling between Cottonwood Square and Second Avenue.
The Holiday Markets offer a perfect way to celebrate the season with family and friends. Whether you are enjoying a warm cup of cider, listening to carolers, or finding the perfect gift, the market provides countless ways to immerse yourself in the spirit of the season. Mark your calendars for Dec. 7 and 14 and prepare to make holiday memories in Niwot.
