All Local, All The Time

Final 2024 First Friday

The First Friday Art Walk is back on Friday, Dec. 6 at 5:00 p.m. just in time for the holidays. The First Friday Art Walks provide an opportunity to enjoy local artistry throughout Niwot while shopping for holiday gifts.

Osmosis Art and Architecture and the Niwot Cultural Arts Association (NCAA), with funding by the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID), have been making these events possible for the past twelve years. This is the first First Friday Art walk since September as the monthly schedule changed to quarterly except during the summer.

Osmosis Art Gallery will host a curated art collection featuring local artists open to the public throughout the evening.

If you missed Enchanted Evening or the Holiday Parade on Small Business Saturday in Niwot this past weekend, First Friday Art Walk is a festive opportunity to support our local shops around town.

Several shops will be open that evening, including Osmosis Gallery, Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, Few of a Kind, Little Bird, The Little Shop at Niwot, and Fly Away Home, as well as The Nook, Belle Terre Floral and Pebble Art Jewelry in the Niwot Market, with the three businesses hosting an open house with guitarist Tony Crank performing.

Other musicians will be performing around town as well. Jan Kahl of Niwot Jewelry & Gifts said, "We will be open with a fire pit and music out front of the jewelry store. We will also have wine, chocolates and cookies."

Old Oak Coffeehouse will be open late with a Brother & Sister Dueling Art Show. Patty Machen, one of the owners of the Old Oak Coffeehouse, and her brother, Jonathan Machen, will celebrate the formal opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Patty will be showing her recent ceramics and Jonathan will have a number of framed oil paintings for sale.

Inkberry Books will host a reception for Ukrainian artist Alex Gogoliev from 6 to 8 p.m. "My artistic journey began with a desire to capture my dreams on paper," Gogoliev said in an announcement. "I've always been fascinated by lucid dreaming, and I still keep a dream journal to this day."

Karen Quinn, a longtime resident of Niwot, has been going to First Friday Art Walks with her husband, Brad, for about as many years as the Art walks have been in existence. "We love seeing new beautiful art and the creativity that (exists) all around our small community," Quinn said. She also looks forward to seeing and reconnecting with old friends around town as she enjoys an artistic stroll through the streets of Niwot.
