All Local, All The Time

Jim Ditzel appointed to the LID Advisory Committee

The Boulder County Commissioners appointed Jim Ditzel as the Niwot Business Association representative on the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID) Advisory Committee on Jan. 14. Ditzel, a long-time member of the Niwot Business Association (NBA), will replace NBA President Eric Bergeson, whose term ends in February. His application was approved unanimously by the board, and Ditzel's first LID meeting will be in March.

Ditzel said he applied to the LID Advisory Committee partly because it is a tradition for the NBA president to be on the committee, and also because he wants to help local businesses around the town that has been a home for him for so long.

"I wanted to become more active in the Niwot business community." Ditzel said. "I believe in small business and appreciate all the small businesses in Niwot very much."

The nine-member Advisory Committee was established in 2008 to assist the Boulder County Commissioners when considering funding proposals for the benefit of the Niwot Business District. All members of the committee are appointed by the Boulder County Commissioners, who serve as the board of directors for the LID. The Advisory Committee consists of three Niwot residents, a representative of the Niwot Community Association, an NBA representative, and four business or commercial property owners.

Funding requests are considered at monthly meetings by the LID Advisory Committee, which recommends approval or denial to the county commissioners, who have approved almost all of the recommendations of the Advisory Committee since 2008.

Ditzel has been a commercial real estate broker with Summit Commercial Brokers in Niwot since 2000 and has lived in the Boulder County area since 1983. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Iowa and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Ditzel worked in an advertising position for the Boulder Daily Camera for many years and later became a real estate broker for Gibbons-White, Inc., and Colorado Group, Inc., before joining Summit.

Ditzel also recently joined the Niwot Future League (NFL), which is charged with the supervision of the administrative coordinator for Niwot, a position funded by the LID.

An avid cyclist, Ditzel and his wife Kristin have resided in Oriole Estates, west of Niwot, since 2015. His interests include music, reading, writing, and physical fitness.
