The Niwot High School boys basketball team had a challenging week with three games resulting in three losses. The team played hard but struggled to secure wins, dropping both of their league games and one non-conference game.
The week started on Tuesday, Jan. 14, with a conference game against the Fairview High School Knights. Despite solid individual efforts, Niwot struggled with shooting efficiency, finishing the game with a field goal percentage of just 41%.
Senior Rohit Das was Niwot’s MaxPreps Player of the Game, contributing 12 points and seven rebounds. Senior Luke Demmel had eight points and junior Henry Noblin scored six. Noblin also led the team in rebounds with nine. Despite the Cougars’ efforts, the game ended in a 41-34 loss.

Senior Archer Buckbee was named Niwot’s MaxPreps Player of the Game for his all-around play, contributing 11 points.
Senior Sebastian Stenz followed closely with ten points, five rebounds, and five assists. Noblin added six rebounds and two assists. The Cougar defense showed resilience, but the players struggled to find their rhythm offensively, with 19 turnovers and a low-scoring performance from their bench.
The Cougars wrapped up their week on Saturday, Jan. 18 against Cheyenne Mountain High School in a non-conference matchup. Stenz led the team in scoring with 11 points, shooting an impressive 100% from the field.
Das followed with ten points and Demmel had eight. Senior Taylor Rodanski also scored eight points and was named Niwot’s MaxPreps Player of the Game. Niwot was once again undone by turnovers, committing 20 throughout the game.
The Cougars will look to bounce back next week with two home conference games. The first is set for Tuesday, Jan. 21 against Centaurus High School, followed by a game on Friday, Jan. 24 against Mead High School. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
These losses bring Niwot to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in league play. Despite the tough stretch, the Cougars are hoping to improve as they head into the home stretch of the season.
