All Local, All The Time

Familiar Face: Darthy Prum

In the heart of Niwot, where local businesses thrive on community connections, Darthy Prum has become a familiar face, serving up smiles behind the counter at Subway in Cottonwood Square. For the past two years, this Boulder native, a graduate of Boulder High School, has been crafting sandwiches and building relationships, one order at a time, all while balancing her role as a mother of two children.

"Everyone is so friendly, so it makes it easy to interact with them," Prum said about what she enjoys most about working in Niwot. In a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other, she has found her place creating lasting connections through the simple act of making lunch.

These connections often start with small talk and evolve into meaningful daily interactions. Some customers visit twice a day, and Prum takes pride in remembering not just their names, but their preferred sandwich combinations. It is this attention to detail and genuine interest in her customers that has made her a valued member of the community.

For Prum, who has worked in food service since her teenage years, the job is more than just preparing sandwiches. When asked about memorable customer stories, she lights up talking about the regular customers she has gotten to know over the years. These relationships, built one interaction at a time, have transformed routine lunch orders into opportunities for connection.

When she is not working at Subway, Prum enjoys unwinding through two very different pastimes – hiking the scenic trails around Boulder and playing pool. These activities provide a perfect balance to her busy work and family life, allowing her moments of both outdoor adventure and social recreation.

Prum's personal favorite sandwich choices are the Chicken Bacon Ranch and the All American Club. But more than the sandwiches, it's the people who keep her excited about coming to work each day.

Prum's humble approach to customer service has made her a recognized figure in the community.

In a world where fast food often means impersonal service, Prum's friendly presence and dedication to building relationships remind us that sometimes the simplest interactions can create the strongest community bonds.
