Leadership changes signal new era for Niwot Business Association

Changes are on the horizon for the Niwot Business Association (NBA) as several key officers prepare to step down, making way for new leadership in the spring of 2025.

The term of current NBA President Eric Bergeson of The Wheel House will end and Bergeson has decided to step down from his leadership role. Jim Ditzel of Summit Commercial Real Estate will be the new president, having been elected after running unopposed for the position.

Ditzel, a longtime NBA member, has already begun transitioning into a leadership role within the community, having been appointed by the Boulder County Commissioners on Jan. 14 as the NBA representative on the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID) Advisory Committee. He will replace Bergeson on the committee when the latter's term ends, with his first LID meeting scheduled for Mar. 4.

While Deb Fowler of DRF Real Estate - Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate will continue her role as vice-president, after running unopposed for another term, both the secretary and treasurer positions will see new leadership.

The organization will welcome Tucker Huey, an architect and partner with Osmosis Art & Architecture, as its new secretary. Huey, who ran unopposed, will replace outgoing Secretary Nancy Bureau of Left Hand Animal Hospital, who is stepping down from her position.

Treasurer Mary Coonce of Porchfront Homes will be succeeded by Amy Chang of Niwot Eyecare & Vision Therapy, who ran unopposed for the position. Coonce and her husband Tim Coonce recently sold Porchfront Homes to two longtime employees.

These changes come at a time when the local business association plays an increasingly vital role in community development and economic growth. The incoming officers will be responsible for continuing the NBA's mission of supporting and promoting Niwot's business community while fostering relationships between local entrepreneurs and residents.

The NBA has recently been engaged in discussions with Boulder County officials regarding the county's minimum wage ordinance and construction of an underpass into Niwot from the bikeway median on the Diagonal Highway currently under construction.

The leadership transition took effect Feb. 11, 2025.
