It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Neal Thomas Anderson, age 80, on Feb. 23, 2025, in Niwot, Colorado. Born on Sept. 15, 1944, in the Bronx, Neal lived a life rich with adventure, love, and service to his community.
Neal is survived by his beloved partner, Roxolana Kramarchuk, his daughter Elizabeth Davis (Drew), his son Ryan Anderson (Halley), his adored granddaughter Daniella Davis, and former spouse Janice Stutts. He was a devoted father and grandfather, whose quirkiness and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
Neal's career was defined by his pioneering work in aerospace, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in Earth imaging. An innovative thinker, he dedicated much of his professional life to pushing the boundaries of what was possible, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
Beyond his career, Neal was known for his deep commitment to his community. A tireless volunteer, he served as president of the Niwot Community Association (NCA) for many years and was endearingly referred to as the "Mayor" of Niwot among locals. His passion for cultural events, hosting lively parties, and exploring the world was evident to all who knew him.
Neal was also a devoted philanthropist, contributing to numerous charitable organizations both globally and locally. Over the course of 16 years, he and Janice cared for 62 foster babies in their home. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and ingenuity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have known him.
A Celebration of Life in Neal's honor will be held at Niwot Hall on Monday, March 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Food Bank of the Rockies or The Nature Conservancy, organizations that Neal supported throughout his life.
Neal will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he affected.
