The Wheel House, a unique neighborhood bar founded by Eric Bergeson, and the bicycle shop formerly known as Wheel Works, is entering an exciting new chapter under fresh ownership and management. Cornelia Sawle and Pete and Carissa Brandes announced that they have taken over the community fixture, bringing enthusiasm and ambitious plans for the future.
The Wheel House is still open and its new bicycle shop will open by the end of April.
The Wheel Works is now under new ownership at 7960 Niwot Road, next to Fan’s Chinese Cuisine.
According to a recent Facebook post by Carissa Brandes, "Pete and I are beyond excited.” The post continued, "We can't wait to dive deeper into this amazing community."
The Wheel House has established itself as a community gathering place where cyclists, neighbors, and friends come together. Based on their social media announcement, the new owners intend to build upon this foundation while introducing several enhancements.
Among their plans is the construction of a commercial kitchen, which would expand the establishment's offerings beyond its current fare. They also envision hosting a variety of events including game nights, sports viewing parties, live music performances, private gatherings, and karaoke.
The bicycle shop component remains central to their vision. "We're here to take care of all your bike needs — from servicing bikes to organizing group rides and supporting charity cycling events," the Facebook post explained.
Community members can follow updates on the establishment's social media accounts under the handle @niwotwheelhouse.
As this local institution pedals into its next phase, residents can expect the same welcoming atmosphere with some fresh energy from its enthusiastic new proprietors.
