Niwot's fifth Around the World Celebration is coming up on Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Second Avenue and in Cottonwood Square in Niwot. The event is sponsored by the Niwot Business Association (NBA) and funded in part by the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID).
The event invites businesses and the public to celebrate many countries and cultures through food, drinks, decor, and music throughout town.
Around the World started in 2020 during the COVID epidemic as a way to get people outdoors to socialize safely and bring people back to the local businesses. Each business adopts a country for the day to share with the community. Visitors will be immersed in different countries as they go from one location to another.
In addition to entertainment and food, event attendees will also enjoy several exciting pop-up vendors.
Past participating businesses include: Silfer Smith & Frampton, Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, Chico's Grooming Spa, Niwot Market, DRF Real Estate, The Old Oak Coffeehouse, Few of a Kind Vintage & Mercantile, The Wheel House, and Blessings Day Spa.
Featured musicians include the Low Flying Knobs, a popular marimba Afro-pop band, and the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band. While the Low Flying Knobs perform lively African music, the community band will feature songs connected with places all over the world, including obvious selections such as "Hawaii Five-0," the Ukrainian National Anthem, "Jamaica Farewell," and "Harlem Nocturne," as well as less obvious place references found in the lyrics of "House of the Rising Sun," "Proud Mary," "Don't Stop Believin'," and "Hello.
Make sure to visit the Around the World Celebration to explore all of the different family friendly sights, sounds, smells and tastes other countries have to offer, right here in Niwot.
