All Local, All The Time

Coffee kindness drenches NHS

Lately, Niwot High School has seen an increase in acts of kindness, specifically those towards staff members. Throughout this past semester students have taken initiative in showing staff appreciation by purchasing coffee for teachers, counselors, and other staff members.

Whether it be an iced coffee from the popular Longmont spot Ziggi's Coffee, or a hot tea from WiNot Coffee Company, the impact of these students has not gone unnoticed. These small acts can make a staff member's day and influence students to explore creative ways to express appreciation.

Niwot High counselor Mickie Doherty was especially moved by the actions students have been taking, making a point to share these acts of kindness with local journalists.

The beautiful nature of this phenomenon is that there is no specific organization prompting students to get the unsolicited and unexpected coffee orders from their favorite teachers or counselors, purchase the refreshments, and hand-deliver them. It is simply a collection of students from a variety of backgrounds doing something kind for someone who has impacted them in a positive way.

The community within Niwot High School is unlike any other and the neighborly students of the school are an integral piece of this uniquely tight-knit school.

With the stressful time of final exams on the horizon, Niwot High School hopes to see more acts of coffee and other kindness.
