The Left Hand Valley Courier is known for its coverage of athletes and arts students at Niwot High School. The Courier also honors an array of students who pursue activities such as community service, robotics, academics, and topics that fall under the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) umbrella.
Niwot High School senior Mira Clayborn has excelled in her studies throughout the past four years while simultaneously committing a large portion of her life to her passion, dance.
For the past five years, Clayborn has been dancing with local dance school, Dance Dimensions, but she has been dancing since the age of seven. She trains in a variety of styles, including hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and pointe.
While taking advanced classes and enjoying the final months of her time at Niwot, Clayborn has been planning to pursue further education. While she has yet to decide on a school, she hopes to move out of the state.
Clayborn is interested in focusing her future studies on genetics and pharmacology. She said, "[I] hope to study how those two interact and relate to each other." She also hopes to continue dancing throughout college, whether it be in a club or through a company.
When asked, "What is your proudest high school achievement?," Clayborn answered simply, "Completing it."
Clayton's dream job is to be a dive instructor or tour guide somewhere in the Caribbean. Impressively, Clayborn holds a certification in open water scuba diving, having completed over twenty dives.
While someday she hopes to pursue her passion for diving and exploring, she intends to initially focus on clinical pharmacology. Clayborn said, "[I] am excited to see what I can do when I get into college and experience more potential jobs in my areas of interest."
Outside of getting an education and dancing, which takes up a considerable amount of her time, Clayborn enjoys spending quality time with friends, jewelry making, and loves anything to do with the outdoors. Some of the activities she noted to be especially enjoyable were skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, and stargazing.
